Coordinator urges Gov. Elechi to nominate successor
Ebonyi - Chief Magnus Eze, the
Coordinator, Okposi Development
Centre in Ohaozara LGA of Ebonyi,
has urged Gov. Martin Elechi to
ensure seamless transition in the
state by nominating his successor.
Eze, who made the call on Tuesday
in Okposi in an interview with the
News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), said
the move would ensure that Elechi’s
legacies in office are maintained
and improved-upon.
He urged the governor to consult
widely with a view to reaching
consensus on who would succeed
him and convene a town hall
meeting to announce his Successor.
"Such decision is consistent with
the principles of democracy; it
would douse tension, acrimony and
unnecessary rancour and provide
opportunity for continuity and
consolidation," he said.
The coordinator called on Nigerians
to see the security challenges facing
the country as part of the `trials’ to
attain nationhood, adding that the
activities of the Boko Haram sect
would soon be surmounted.
He commended President Goodluck
Jonathan for the 'mature way' he is
handling the Boko Haram
insurgency and the `expertise’ his
administration employed in
stemming the Ebola Virus Disease.
"Nigerians should pray for the
families of those killed, maimed or
displaced by the Boko Haram
insurgency.
"They should also vote for Jonathan
to enable him consolidate on his
achievements during his first term
in office,” he said.
