The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission on Tuesday said it had made a breakthrough in how over $15bn was siphoned from the account of the Office of the National Security Adviser during the administration of former President Goodluck Jonathan.

Following the unfortunate death of a Police officer, ASP Mathew Akpos, allegedly killed by operatives of the State Command Special Anti-Robbery Squad, SARS, earlier this month, and ensuing protests by aggrieved citizens, the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Solomon E Arase, fdc, NPM, has called for calm as the Police authorities has waded into the matter to ensure that justice is served. Upon the receipt of the information, the IGP immediately directed that the matter be investigated to ensure justice is served. Meanwhile, all the Policemen linked with the killing of the officer have been arrested, detained and are presently undergoing investigation, for subsequent prosecution. Police investigating the murder of a man in Northolt five years ago have made two further arrests. Adeniyi Lateef Shode, also know as "Aden", died on May 2 2011, after being stabbed but four people who were arrested were released without charge. Since then no one has ever been charged in relation to the murder of the victim, from Edgware. On Wednesday, 8 June, a 25-year-old man [G] surrendered to a north London police station and was arrested for conspiracy to murder. A 22-year-old woman [B] was further arrested for conspiracy to murder at an address in Watford. They have both been bailed to a date in mid-August.

Very sad news this morning! Talented singer, songwriter and producer Babatunde Okungbowa popularly known as OJB Jezreel has died. The music maestro, who was flown for a Kidney transplant in India in 2013 and was said to be doing well, had a relapse about two weeks ago and was kept on daily dialysis before his urgent need for oxygen yesterday. Unfortunately, he didn't make it. He died early this morning June 14th at Isolo General Hospital in Lagos.

Ex-wife and former classmates of gunman who shot dead 50 people at Orlando gay nightclub say that he was gay himself. The 29-year-old’s ex-wife, Sitora Yusufiy, and others who survived the massacre have said Mateen had visited the nightclub on several occasions. Ms Yusufiy told a Brazilian TV station Mateen had "gay tendencies" and said his own father had called him gay in front of her. At the Federal government town-hall event meeting in Akwa Ibom state yesterday June 13th, Minister of Transport, Rotimi Amaechi and the Minister of state for Petroleum Resources, Ibe Kachikwu, disagreed over the development of the Maritime University in Okerenkeko, Delta State. According to investigations by the EFCC, the land for the proposed University, valued at N13 billion and was sold by ex militant leader, Tompolo to the federal government.

A suspected serial rapist, identified only as  Badoo , has refused to talk to policemen investigating him. Our correspondent learnt that  Badoo , who was arrested by the Ipakodo Police Division, Lagos State, on Sunday, had yet to disclose his real name to the police or write a statement.

A 25-year-old man, Kabir Ahmed, has been admitted to the Federal Medical Centre in Yola, Adamawa State, after he was allegedly beaten into a coma by some policemen attached to the Doubeli division. The policemen, who were said to be in mufti, had on May 16 at about 10am raided Zanranda Street in the Jimeta area of the state to arrest some suspected smokers.

An 'Islamic State' killer stabbed a police officer and his wife to death in their Paris home. The Police Jean-Baptiste Salvaing, 42, was stabbed nine times in the stomach in the 'terror attack' at his suburban house in the Yvelines department, north of Paris, shortly after 8.30pm. His wife's body was found in the property after elite RAID commandos stormed the building and killed the attacker. Fortunately the couple’s three-year-old son survived. Islamic State's terror group's Amaq news agency said the attacker was an "Islamic State fighter". A source close to the case said: "It’s said that he shouted Allahu Akhbar (Arabic for God is the Greatest) during the attack, and spoke about his membership of ISIS. Neighbours also said the man had served with the French Army, in the Foreign Legion. Mr Salvaing was an assistant chief with the judicial police at nearby Mureaux, while the dead killer was also from Magnanville. &q

An 18 year old man, Smith Dorcent, tied up a 17-year-old girl, beat her with a belt and filmed himself attacking her with her own phone before uploading the video to Snapchat. Several people including family members and friends close to the teen, saw the video on Snapchat and called police, according to an arrest report. j Dorcent of Boynton Beach, has since been arrested, jailed and is currently facing charges. The teenager whose Identity wasn't revealed didn't report the matter to the police because she said she was afraid of Dorcent. But after been interrogated by the police, she admitted that the assault started on  May 16 after Dorcent got angry that she wouldn't give him the password to her phone. He forced her to unlock the phone and then used it to record his attack on her. She said after the beating, Dorcent left her tied up for several more minutes before he released her. Lagos State Governor, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode  on Monday  said his administration has commenced the process of developing a top class International Convention Centre that would boost trade and investments, just as he reiterated his unwavering commitment to ensuring the ease of doing business in the State. Governor  Ambode, who spoke at the Lagos House, Ikeja when he received a delegation from the Lagos Chambers of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) led by the President, Chief Dr. (Mrs) Nike Akande, disclosed that a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to construct the Convention Centre has already been signed. Governor Ambode said the Convention Centre, which would be constructed in the Victoria Island area of the State on 30, 000 square meters space, upon completion, would be of international standard and it would compete favorably with best convention and exhibition centres across the world.
